Good Shepherd Baptist Church

About this church

Good Shepherd Baptist Church in Lafayette holds morning worship on Sundays at 10 a.m., and the service usually lasts about an hour. Worship includes hymn singing, prayer, and fellowship, followed by a message from the Bible. The Baptist congregation was founded in 2002, calls itself a little country church just outside downtown, and states that its purpose is to bring people to Christ and help believers grow in their faith.

Church life is organized around several small ministries. Women of Worth gives widows a place for food, fellowship, Bible study, and craft projects, and the ladies' ministry meets for Bible studies through the year. Senior adults and a group of retired men get together at area restaurants and on outings, and a newer Bible study serves young married couples. The CARES ministry supports community needs, including local police and fire departments, adoption agencies, and Operation Christmas Child shoe box collections. Most attendees dress business casual, though visitors are encouraged to wear what is comfortable. The rear lot has very few spaces, so most people park in the school lot across the street or on the street. Recorded sermons are posted on the church's Facebook page, and sermon or prayer requests can be sent by email. Confirm the service time on the website before visiting.
