New Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church

About this church

New Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church in Merrillville offers Morning Manna Sunday School at 9:15 a.m. Central and a virtual worship service at 10:45. Fireside Word Bible class meets Tuesday at 6 p.m. Central. The current site labels Sunday worship as virtual, so visitors should not assume the Merrillville building is open for an in-person service without contacting the church. A former seasonal Wednesday noon study appears in archived page text but is not part of the active recurring schedule.

The congregation was organized in 1948 by the Rev. W. H. Robinson and thirty-five members in East Chicago's New Addition community. Originally Ebenezer Baptist Church, it adopted the New Ebenezer Missionary Baptist name in 1987 and moved to Merrillville in July 2011 while continuing ministry connections in East Chicago. Its purpose is summarized as baptizing, educating, and evangelizing. Ministries include missions, a food pantry, Nurse's Guild, pastoral care, ushers, youth, child care, women, and Christian education. Training and workshops are intended to address physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs from the local to international level. Online worship is the clearest first step; anyone seeking pantry help, children's care, or an in-person gathering should use the official contact page for current access details.
