First Presbyterian Church

About this church

First Presbyterian Church of Monticello offers an informal, lay-led adult Bible study Sundays at 9:00 a.m. and traditional worship at 10:30 at 104 North Illinois Street. The service brings together Scripture, song, a message, prayer, and fellowship; an adult-staffed nursery is available, and worship is streamed on Facebook and YouTube. Snacks and drinks usually follow at 11:30, creating a natural time for newcomers to meet people.

Beyond Sunday, the Presbyterian Church (USA) congregation hosts a monthly senior fellowship and a free chair-exercise class for mature adults and people with limited mobility on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 to 11:00. Its outreach is unusually specific: the annual Operation Backpack provides school supplies to about 350–400 White County students, while other projects support the county food pantry, shoe vouchers, family Vacation Bible School meals, and food baskets for local veterans. A guest seeking discussion may get the best introduction by starting with the 9:00 Bible study and staying through worship and fellowship. Families can rely on the published nursery provision, though contacting the church beforehand is sensible when a child needs a particular accommodation.
