About this church
Newburgh United Methodist Church begins Sunday classes at 8:45 a.m. and sanctuary worship at 10:00. Nursery care supports children through age four; kindergarten through fifth grade have classes during the education hour and may leave worship after the children’s moment for Kids Church. Students in grades six through twelve meet in the youth room during Sunday School, while children of every age are also welcome to remain in the main service. The church practices open Communion, a helpful point for visitors from traditions with different table requirements.
The congregation’s food pantry opens every Monday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. A distinctive Special Needs Youth Ministry has provided teenagers and young adults with supervised, faith-based community since 2011. Meetings may include Scripture, prayer, sharing, crafts, games, snacks, and gym time, with an approximate two-to-one student-to-leader ratio. Recreational ministries also use the campus on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. A pastor focused on children, youth, and families coordinates much of the age-group work. Newburgh UMC is at 4178 South Old State Route 261. This profile is especially relevant for families comparing Methodist churches on children’s participation, open Communion, food assistance, and inclusive programming for young people with special needs.
