First United Methodist Church

About this church

First United Methodist Church in Emporia gathers for sanctuary worship and livestream Sunday at 9:30 a.m., followed by Sunday School at about 10:35. Nursery care is available during both hours. The congregation encourages a come-as-you-are visit and opens its hospitality area for coffee, doughnuts, and conversation at 9:00, giving newcomers an easy place to meet people before worship begins. Services use music, imagery, liturgy, prayer, and preaching to connect Scripture with daily life.

The church summarizes its vision in four verbs: connect, love, grow, and serve. Children's ministry builds relationships with God and one another through Sunday learning and a seasonal Wednesday Halftime program, while middle- and high-school groups combine faith formation, recreation, worship, service, and retreats. Safe Gatherings practices shape care for children and vulnerable adults. Mission projects include practical community support as well as congregational service. Visitors can make a full morning of hospitality, worship, and class or attend the sanctuary service alone; youth and children's weekday schedules should be confirmed during school breaks.
