First Presbyterian Church of Maysville

About this church

At First Presbyterian Church of Maysville, the 9:30 a.m. Sunday School hour precedes 10:45 worship at 21 West Third Street, with the service also carried on Facebook Live. Wednesday Bible study starts at 6 p.m. and choir rehearsal at 7. The congregation has served Maysville for more than two centuries and welcomes people for a single day or a lifetime across age, political outlook, culture, and church background. Worship emphasizes Scripture-based sermons and music alongside care for neighbors and the congregation.

As a Presbyterian Church (USA) congregation, First Presbyterian is governed through elected ruling and teaching elders. Membership can follow profession or reaffirmation of faith or transfer from another Christian church, with baptism and support for the church's worship and work forming part of that commitment. Session committees coordinate food and Thanksgiving baskets, Christmas support, special offerings, new-member care, Communion preparation, concerts, children's outings, teacher training, weekly study, fellowship meals, picnics, finances, personnel, and outreach. A Level Two Snow Emergency triggers cancellation of Sunday worship and weekday programs; in other storms, members are asked to use judgment. A newcomer can pair the 9:30 class with 10:45 worship, watch online first, or contact the weekday office before traveling during severe winter weather.
