Fort Foote Baptist Church

About this church

Fort Foote Baptist Church in Fort Washington worships in person and online Sunday at 7:30 and 11 a.m. Sunday School meets between the two services at 9:15, giving visitors a choice between an early or late worship hour with education in the middle. Wednesday Bible study is offered at noon and 7 p.m. The church publishes its Fort Foote Road address alongside the schedule, and its livestream makes it possible to preview the congregation before attending.

Fort Foote traces its origin to a 1955 survey by Congress Heights Baptist Church that identified the need for a congregation in the area. Its first service was held on Easter 1956 in a converted fruit-storage building before the present church and sanctuary developed. The congregation now frames its mission through worship, walk, and work: spreading the gospel, modeling Jesus' love, and supporting spiritual, academic, economic, and technological development. Ministries include men, women, young adults, pastoral care, and missions. A monthly free food distribution connects the mission program with practical neighborhood needs, while a Tuesday 6:30 p.m. men's Bible study meets online. Newcomers seeking the fullest introduction can combine either Sunday service with the 9:15 classes; those unable to attend can use the same published times online.
