St. Gregory the Great Orthodox Church in Silver Spring is a Western Rite congregation of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese. Rather than the Byzantine liturgy found in many Orthodox parishes, St. Gregory uses an ancient Western form, the Divine Liturgy according to the Rite of Saint Gregory. The schedule lists Saturday Vespers from 6:00 to 6:45 p.m., Sunday Matins from 9:00 to 9:30, and Sung Mass from 9:30 to 10:45. Coffee hour follows Mass. The congregation began in 1996 and moved to its Roxbury Road home in 2017.

Visitors are welcome at every service. For Matins, worshippers can take a copy of The English Office Noted near the door; for Mass, the bulletin points to the relevant pages in the pew hymnal and missal. Expect prayers, lessons, hymns, and chanted psalms. Prepared Orthodox Christians may receive Communion, while other guests are invited forward for a priestly blessing and antidoron, or blessed bread.
