Bethel United Methodist Church

About this church

Bethel United Methodist Church in Flint gathers for Sunday worship at 10:00 a.m. Services last about ninety minutes and feature contemporary praise and worship. Greeters and ushers are stationed near entrances, while nursery space is available for babies. Children and teenagers from kindergarten through twelfth grade have interactive, high-energy learning environments. An adult Bible study is listed at 10:45 a.m., overlapping part of the worship window, so visitors interested in that class should ask a greeter how the current Sunday arrangement works.

The congregation traces its founding to 1921, when members met in homes and community spaces before establishing a church building. In 2002, Bethel began a new chapter at its Ballenger Highway location, and in 2005 it received its first female pastor. Its mission emphasizes Christ’s love through worship, education, advocacy, service, compassion, justice, and fellowship in Flint. More than a century of local ministry gives the contemporary Sunday experience historical depth. For a first visit, expect energetic music, a ninety-minute service, family learning spaces, and visible helpers at the doors; use the church’s ministry pages to identify service or advocacy work that matches your interests.
