About this church
Zion Church of Ionia gathers for worship Sunday at 10:30 a.m. at 423 West Washington Street. The Global Methodist congregation invites people to come as they are for praise, worship, and a sermon intended to deepen faith. Coffee fellowship follows the service, giving visitors a straightforward opportunity to meet people and ask questions. Zion describes itself through the themes “Discover, Grow, Belong” and emphasizes acceptance, support, and practical care. Its pastor highlights relatable gospel preaching and service to people experiencing poverty or homelessness.
Community food ministry is a defining part of Zion's local presence. The Zion Community Food Pantry serves Ionia County residents Wednesday from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at the church and operates as an equal-opportunity provider. A free Thursday community dinner opens its doors at 5 p.m. and serves at 6; no identification is required. The dinner is currently held at First United Methodist Church, 105 East Main Street, using the back entrance, rather than at Zion's Washington Street building. Zion also works with a Feeding America mobile pantry and asks volunteers and donors to help meet rising grocery demand. The office is generally available Monday through Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; current Bible-study information is supplied directly. Public pages do not state worship length, music instrumentation, parking, accessibility, nursery or children’s programming, child-safety practices, Communion frequency, or online-worship availability.
