First Presbyterian Church

About this church

First Presbyterian Church of Ypsilanti worships Sundays at 10:00 a.m. at 300 North Washington Street, with live and archived video available online. Children ages four through eleven can attend Children’s Church at 9:00 for prayer, song, Bible story, and response activities. Organized in 1829, the open and affirming congregation frames its work around worship, prayer, mercy, generosity, growing in faith, service, witness, and Christian community.

The church’s service partnerships give the historic downtown congregation a strong community role. It provides space and kitchen support for the FedUp food truck, which serves food-insecure communities; supports Hope Clinic, Meals on Wheels, and SOS housing-stability work; and hosts several weekly Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. Its 1899-era sanctuary was later renovated with a barrier-free chancel, sound and video systems, and a pipe organ built around historic components. Visitors can use the 10:00 worship service as the broadest entry, while families may begin with the 9:00 children’s program. College-age adults have a separate social fellowship. The worship page retains some pandemic-era wording, so consult the homepage and current calendar for up-to-date in-person practices.
