About this church
Ypsilanti Free Methodist Church gathers Sunday at 10 a.m. for roughly 75 to 80 minutes of hospitality, contemporary and traditional music, prayer, Scripture, Communion, and biblical teaching. Kid Zone runs concurrently for nursery through fifth grade. Students can arrive Sunday at 9 a.m. for A-Space, a casual pre-service setting for connection and faith-related conversation. The student ministry also meets Monday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. with worship, games, and small-group discipleship in collaboration with Young Life. Guests are invited to remain after Sunday worship for conversation and community rather than treating departure as immediate.
Known as YpsiFree, the congregation commits to loving God, loving all people, and following Jesus together. Its formation language emphasizes deep connection, ongoing practice of Jesus' way, and mission in the world through prayer, rest, generosity, hospitality, Scripture, and service. Community Groups meet in varied homes, residential communities, and church settings, with some following second- and fourth-week patterns. Local partnerships support neighborhood elementary schools and Eastern Michigan University students through Cru; global relationships are described as mutual partnerships with international leaders. A first-time family can use the single Sunday hour and concurrent Kid Zone. Teenagers have the earlier Sunday A-Space and Monday evening gathering, while adults interested in a group should verify both location and week-of-month before attending.
