About this church
Ely Presbyterian Church worships at 11 a.m. Sunday at 226 East Harvey Street. Its traditional Reformed liturgy is presented with energy and a varied selection of hymns and other music. Communion uses bread and juice on the first Sunday each month, and everyone is invited to the table. Clothing ranges from jeans and flannel to skirts, sport coats, and dresses; seating is unreserved. Children remain welcome in worship, and a family restroom on the sanctuary level is accessible to people with disabilities. A livestream provides another first look.
This Presbyterian Church (USA) congregation treats doubt, difficult questions, and wonder as part of faith rather than reasons for exclusion. Its mission is to explore and celebrate love for God and neighbor in an intergenerational community without judgment or shame. Connections include Joy Circle on first and third Mondays, a twice-monthly citywide book discussion, Lunch Bunch at noon on the last Monday, a women's Bible study, a monthly Racial Justice Group, and choir rehearsal at 4 p.m. Tuesday. The congregation identifies every member as a minister, while elders and deacons share formal leadership and care. A first-time guest can choose any pew, participate in Communion on first Sunday, and remain at their preferred level of dress or involvement. People seeking conversation can select a social, study, justice, or music group rather than entering through membership paperwork.
