Caldwell United Methodist Church

About this church

Caldwell United Methodist Church is a nurturing faith community at 8 Academy Road that welcomes people wherever they are in their spiritual journey. Sunday worship meets at 10 a.m. in person and on Zoom. The hour-long service may draw on traditional, praise, Taizé, or contemplative styles and normally includes organ or piano, choir or handbells, congregational hymns, prayer, and a hopeful message. Dress ranges from casual to more formal, children’s sounds are welcomed, and coffee and treats afterward create a relaxed “second worship service” for conversation.

Parking is available in the Elizabeth Street lot and on Washburn Place, and the visitor page notes a lift for building access. Monthly Messy Church combines an intergenerational message, meal, and crafts from 5:30 to 8 p.m.; dates vary by calendar. Other connections include children’s choirs, worship assistants, Confirmation, teen service, adult studies, prayer, retreats, pastoral care, and music. Community service supplies Caldwell’s food pantry, prepares seasonal baskets, serves meals to unhoused neighbors in Newark and New York City, supports Family Promise, builds with Habitat for Humanity, and charters a Scout troop. The homepage currently advertises in-person and Zoom worship, while the older visitor page retains COVID-era online-only language; use the homepage and live calendar for current access. Public pages do not state Communion frequency, nursery care, child check-in, or service-stream delay.
