First Presbyterian Church at Caldwell

About this church

First Presbyterian Church at Caldwell worships at 10 a.m. on Sunday in a traditional Presbyterian service. The congregation says services are planned to help people encounter God through music, prayer, teaching, and reflection, with musical ensembles drawing on varied sacred styles. Its welcome is tied to a mission of helping people know and love Jesus Christ, grow in faith, discover their gifts, and serve others. Visitors looking for a recognizably Presbyterian order of worship rather than an informal program will find that emphasis stated directly on the church's worship pages.

Mission work is a substantial part of the congregation's public identity. First Presbyterian supports partners in New Jersey, elsewhere in the United States, and around the world, and it organizes service projects and work camps. One highlighted relationship is the 7th Street Bistro in Newark, which grew from twice-monthly hot lunches to work that includes nutritious meals, gently used clothing, hygiene supplies, and connections to social services for people experiencing homelessness or hardship. The church also describes Bible study, fellowship, prayer, and service as mutually reinforcing parts of spiritual growth. Prospective guests should check the events calendar for seasonal musical themes, study opportunities, and mission activities, while using the published 10 a.m. hour as the regular Sunday starting point.
