First Presbyterian Church of South Amboy

About this church

First Presbyterian Church of South Amboy is a congregation seeking to trust and obey Jesus Christ and carry on his mission in the present. Organized in the 1860s, the church’s detailed history records worship, community service, clothing drives, food assistance, military remembrance, and recovery after a 1950 munitions explosion badly damaged the church, stained glass, and manse. The congregation invites visitors into both worship and an ongoing faith journey.

Sunday worship begins at 10:30 a.m., with Communion on the first Sunday of each month. Sunday School meets at 9:00 from October through June, making it a school-year program rather than a year-round hour. Worship videos are available through the official site for people who want to preview or join remotely. The welcome page emphasizes companionship in everyday faith but does not publish nursery, parking, or clothing information, so families needing those details should contact the church before arriving. Historical food-pantry statistics document substantial community service, though they do not by themselves establish a current distribution schedule; visitors should use the events page for today’s outreach. The Sunday schedule page is the clearest authoritative source, and its seasonal wording should take precedence over generic assumptions about Sunday School.
