About this church
Allen Memorial Church of God in Christ lists Sunday Family Life School at 9:30 a.m. and morning worship at 11. On Tuesdays, Bible study meets 7:30–8:30 p.m.; Thursday midweek worship starts at 7:30. The church also says it meets online through Zoom and Facebook. Founded from a Mount Vernon mission begun in the 1920s, the congregation took its present name in 1987 to honor longtime pastor Ernest Allen. Its affirmation of faith is distinctly Church of God in Christ, emphasizing inspired Scripture, the Trinity, salvation through Christ, prayer for healing, baptism in the Holy Spirit, sanctification, and Christ's return.
Ministries are organized around family, community, formation, and the arts. Nu Vision helps young people address questions of faith, discover purpose and abilities, and explore educational and career goals. Care Groups create smaller settings for pastoral care, acceptance, trust, and deeper relationships. Women's, men's, millennial, and senior ministries provide age- and life-stage connection; the senior society includes fellowship, information, nutrition, exercise, life skills, and outings. Music and Arts uses singing, instruments, dance, and drama to communicate Scripture and prepare for teaching. One contact page retains COVID-era suspension language and older times that conflict with the recurring schedule displayed across the current site, so visitors should rely on the main schedule and confirm changes. Allen Memorial leaves worship duration and Communion practice undefined, along with dress, parking and building access, hearing support, children's or nursery options, registration and screening, and archived-stream availability.
