St. Peter Armenian Church

About this church

St. Peter Armenian Apostolic Church in Watervliet celebrates the Divine Liturgy, or Badarak, every Sunday at 10 a.m. Armenian liturgical books in the pews include the original text, transliteration, and English translation so worshipers can join the hymns and responses. Fellowship usually follows in the church hall. Requiem services are normally scheduled on the first Sunday of the month, subject to forty-day memorial needs, and sermons and services are available on YouTube.

The parish combines Orthodox Christian worship with Armenian language and culture. Programs include Sunday school, Armenian school, adult Bible study and prayer, altar-server formation, and occasional classes explaining the prayers and hymns of Badarak. Sacramental guidelines cover baptism, weddings, funerals, and memorial observances within Armenian Apostolic canon law. People seeking an Armenian church in New York's Capital Region will find weekly Eucharistic liturgy, bilingual worship aids, cultural education, and a strong family-community rhythm after services. Check current announcements before arranging a memorial or sacrament, and rely on the Divine Liturgy page rather than older pandemic-era text still visible on parts of the home page.
