First Baptist Church, Rocky Mount, North Carolina

About this church

First Baptist Church of Rocky Mount begins Sunday School at 9:00 a.m. and worship at 10:30. Wednesday activities open with a meal at 5:00 p.m., followed by prayer and age-based groups at 6:00. Worship brings the congregation together through singing, prayer, and biblical preaching, while Sunday School is the primary small-group setting for discussion and discipleship. Recent services are archived online, allowing newcomers to hear the teaching before visiting the large Church Street campus. Organized in 1880, First Baptist participates in Southern Baptist organizations at national, state, and regional levels.

Kingdom Kids serves kindergarten through fifth grade, and the youth ministry covers grades six through twelve. Both meet during Sunday School and Wednesday evening programming, using age-appropriate, book-by-book Bible study. The church emphasizes family discipleship and requires children's ministry volunteers to complete MinistrySafe background checks. Seasonal women's Bible studies and other adult classes add options beyond the Sunday hour. For parents, the published age divisions, simultaneous weekly schedule, and stated screening process make the first visit easier to assess; for adults, the sequence of a Wednesday meal followed by prayer or groups offers a practical midweek connection point.
