Rutherfordton Presbyterian Church

About this church

Rutherfordton Presbyterian Church worships at 252 North Washington Street in Rutherfordton. Its regular Sunday schedule lists online adult Sunday School at 8:15 a.m., children’s Music Makers at 9:30, Sunday School at 10:00, and morning worship at 11:00. Summer worship moves to 10:00 a.m., so the season matters when planning a visit. The congregation describes itself as a multigenerational body committed to worship, spiritual growth, fellowship, mission outreach, and service to God’s people.

Organized in 1834 with fewer than twenty members, the church says it is Rutherfordton’s oldest active congregation still worshiping on its original site. The present sanctuary dates to 1952 and incorporates lumber and the bell from an earlier building. A 7,406-square-foot addition completed in 2020 and dedicated in 2022 created a flexible fellowship hall, kitchen, nursery, children’s classroom, indoor play area, accessible entrance, and spaces designed to support emergency shelter use. That history and the community-ready campus distinguish the congregation. Check the official schedule for the current seasonal worship hour and children’s programming.
