First Baptist Church of Shelby

About this church

First Baptist Church of Shelby gathers for Sunday worship at 9:30 a.m., followed by Sunday School at 10:45. Worship blends traditional and contemporary music through a sanctuary choir and worship team, reflecting the congregation’s multigenerational identity. Its mission emphasizes loving God and neighbors from the North Carolina foothills to wider mission fields.

Nursery for birth through age three opens at 9:15 in the Kids’ Hall, and Sunday School for preschool through fifth grade begins at 10:45. Youth meet at 10:45 in the Youth Room. Weekday ministries include a state-licensed four-star child-care center and Mother’s Morning Out, while outreach combines local service, global missions, and partnerships. A first-time family should arrive before 9:30 for nursery placement, then remain for the appropriate class after worship. Musicians can explore choir and worship-team opportunities, and parents seeking weekday care should distinguish those programs from Sunday nursery. The church’s current calendar should be checked for Wednesday meals, studies, and choir rehearsals.
