First United Methodist Church

About this church

First United Methodist Church of Waynesville gives worshipers a choice between an informal Awakening service in the gym, traditional worship in the sanctuary, and an earlier online premiere. The congregation combines those Sunday options with classes for all ages, children’s and youth ministries, adult groups, mission work, fair-trade coffee outreach, and a weekday Child Development Center. Its children’s ministry emphasizes safe, age-specific environments and helping children embody the love of Jesus in everyday life.

The online service premieres Sunday at 8:30 a.m. Awakening worship begins in the gym at 9:00, Sunday School runs from about 10:00 to 10:50, and traditional worship follows in the sanctuary at 11:00. The children’s page gives a slightly earlier Sunday School start of 9:50, so parents should arrive by that time and confirm the classroom’s current check-in practice. Nursery care is available from 8:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in the children’s hallway near the gym. Youth in grades six through twelve meet Sundays from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. for a meal, games, worship, and small groups. These distinct locations and overlapping times make the newcomer page especially useful when planning where each family member should go.
