Middle-Urbana Missionary Baptist Church

About this church

Middle-Urbana Missionary Baptist Church is a Springfield congregation organized from a twenty-member mission in 1960 and established as an independent church in 1961. Its story includes perseverance through cramped facilities, flooding, building damage, and limited parking before growth into the current ministry. Sunday teaching and worship remain central, while missions have included hunger relief, clean-water supplies, Bibles for Zambia, family assistance, Habitat for Humanity, Toys for Tots, children’s programs, mentoring, and community events.

Sunday teaching begins at 10:00 a.m. with an open invitation to study Scripture and ask questions. Worship follows from 11:00 a.m. to noon, as confirmed by current dated calendar entries. Evening teaching classes—similar to Bible study or Sunday School—usually meet at 5:00 p.m. on three Sundays each month, so visitors should consult the events calendar rather than assuming every Sunday evening. The church’s history notes that people across ages have participated in service, from children’s Sunday School to Teen Reachout and adult groups. Special programs such as Vacation Bible School, caroling, the community egg hunt, and women’s mentoring follow seasonal or program-specific schedules.
