Calvary Baptist Church (SBC)

About this church

Calvary Baptist Church of Albany gathers at 800 Thirty-Fourth Avenue Southeast. Sunday school begins at 9:45 a.m., followed by worship at 11. Services are casual: jeans and T-shirts are common alongside people who dress more formally, with emphasis placed on the condition of the heart. Children age four through fifth grade join the opening congregational praise, then may leave for Calvary's Kids; they are equally welcome to remain with parents, and sermon note pages are available for those staying in the main gathering.

The Southern Baptist congregation organizes discipleship through prayer, Bible study, and service, describing each as both worship and a way to become more like Jesus. Its mission focuses on God's glory, biblical community, spiritual growth, and using individual gifts to bless others. Children's ministry intentionally partners with families rather than treating young worshipers as separate from church life. Newcomer pages explain dress and the transition into Children's Church, while online resources introduce beliefs and current ministry. For families comparing churches, the option to choose between age-specific teaching and full-family worship is a practical distinction. Adults can move from Sunday school and worship into small groups, service, and mission shaped by Calvary's goal of connecting people with Christ and one another.
