First Baptist Church of Chester

About this church

First Baptist Church of Chester offers Sunday school at 9:45 a.m. and sanctuary worship at 10:55. Wednesday begins with a prepared meal at 6, followed by informal prayer and Bible study around tables at 6:45, with youth study, children's mission organizations, nursery, and choir rehearsal also on the schedule. Sunday clothing ranges from jeans, T-shirts, and flip-flops to khakis, dresses, and coats and ties. Four church lots plus Sunday parking behind Farm Bureau and at First Citizens Bank provide several downtown options.

This is a traditional Baptist congregation serving Chester and Chester County. Its 1958 sanctuary, renovated in 2006, combines historic visual character with current technology; the education building contains most classes, choir rooms, offices, four-year-old kindergarten, and a chapel. Children's ministry serves birth through sixth grade through nursery, Sunday school, Children's Church, Vacation Bible School, missions groups, camps, choirs, handbells, music, and drama. The nursery is in the education building to the left when facing the sanctuary, and first-time Sunday-school guests can enter there for help finding a group. Those precise building and parking details make arriving at the 9:45 education hour considerably simpler.
