Winchester Church of Christ

About this church

Winchester Church of Christ holds morning worship Sundays at 9:00 a.m., followed by Bible classes for all ages at 10:15. The sermon is livestreamed, and recent Sunday messages are available through the church site. A combined adult Bible study meets Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. The congregation describes itself as a community of Bible-believing followers of Christ seeking God’s guidance, reaching outward in love, and growing together in fellowship. People may also contact the church to arrange an individual Bible study or submit a prayer request.

Its local roots reach to 1847, when traveling Church of Christ ministers held services at the Winchester courthouse and in private homes. The congregation later met at the Robert Donnell Schoolhouse before moving to South College Street; the first service in the present building was held July 4, 1965. A major addition completed in 2004 created the Vanzant Center for meals, recreation, community activities, Vacation Bible School, and Winchester Christian Academy. The academy opened in 2007 and now serves children from age two through twelfth grade across church and upper-school facilities. A Senior Saints ministry adds fellowship for adults sixty and older, extending the congregation’s intergenerational character.
