Holy Ghost Lutheran Church

About this church

Holy Ghost Lutheran Church offers three clearly differentiated weekend services in downtown Fredericksburg. Saturday at 6:00 p.m. is a smaller, informal gathering with relaxed clothing. Sunday at 8:00 a.m. follows traditional Lutheran liturgy with classic hymns on piano or organ, while the 11:00 family service blends traditional and contemporary elements and may include a praise band. That range lets visitors choose by atmosphere and music rather than assuming every service is interchangeable. The church's mission follows Jesus' Great Commission and is summarized through “ACE”: attend worship, connect in study or a small group, and engage in service.

Music extends well beyond the weekend. An adult vocal group rehearses Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. and sings at several services each month. A children's choir for third grade through middle school meets Tuesday at 3:45, with church-bus transportation from school, a snack, and a devotional. Adult handbells rehearse Tuesday at 5:30. Small groups and community ministry provide other ways to participate. For newcomers, Holy Ghost is unusually easy to compare in advance: each service's style is explained, the musical calendar includes adults and children, and the pathway from attendance to study and service is stated plainly.
