Harmony Missionary Baptist Church

About this church

Harmony Missionary Baptist Church begins Sunday School for all ages at 9:45 a.m., followed by morning worship at 10:50 and an evening service at 5. Wednesday worship meets at 6 p.m., and the church supplies a Watch Live option online. Sunday morning moves from classes into congregational praise and a sermon intended to challenge, encourage, and strengthen listeners; the evening service provides another opportunity for weekly formation. The congregation is part of the Landmark Missionary Baptist Association of Nacogdoches under state and national Missionary Baptist Association leadership.

Harmony traces its origins to a rural school-and-church site established between 1882 and 1886 on land donated by the Pitts family. The congregation rebuilt after fire, reorganized in 1926 and again in 1954, expanded through several sanctuaries and classrooms, and dedicated its current building in 2017. Its covenant stresses Christian love, prayer, care in sickness and distress, religious education for children, relief for people in need, support for ministry, and sharing the gospel. Current youth and campus connections include God Squad events and Association of Baptist Students gatherings near Stephen F. Austin State University, where advertised evenings combine a meal, devotion, planning, and fellowship. A yearly youth camp is also publicized. Details still needed for a first visit include musical format and duration, Communion and baptism customs, dress and parking, building and hearing access, nursery or child registration, screening, the livestream rhythm, and Sunday School age divisions.
