Saint James Episcopal Church

About this church

Saint James Episcopal Church celebrates a spoken Rite I Eucharist at 8 a.m. and a sung Rite II Eucharist at 10 a.m. Sunday at 413 Olive Street in Texarkana. Christian formation begins at 9, although the church notes that children's formation pauses during summer. A Wednesday service is offered at 5:30 p.m. The worship schedule follows the Episcopal calendar, so visitors should check current notices for holy days, seasonal services, or the resumption of children's classes.

Rite I uses traditional prayer-book language and a quieter setting, while Rite II includes music and contemporary-language liturgy. Both center on Scripture, prayer, preaching, and Holy Communion. Formation for children, youth, and adults explores the Bible, Christian faith, and Episcopal tradition; program details vary across the school year. The parish also prepares people for Baptism, Confirmation, marriage, funerals, and other sacramental or pastoral services. Saint James describes its mission through worshiping God, growing in faith, caring for one another, and serving the Texarkana community. A visitor seeking simplicity may prefer the 8 a.m. Eucharist, while someone wanting sung worship or formation can build a morning around 9 and 10. Families visiting in summer should not assume that the 9 a.m. children's class is meeting simply because adult formation appears on the general schedule.
