First Baptist Church Mahan

About this church

First Baptist Church Mahan, also known locally as “112,” is a historic downtown Suffolk congregation built around biblical teaching, joyful worship, spiritual formation, and community engagement. Its members describe themselves as a growing and loving fellowship of baptized believers committed to the gospel. Ministry areas include Sunday School, Bible study, Children's Church, music, hospitality, health, youth, men, women, advocacy, justice, and practical service. The church's teaching presents Baptism as a public act of obedience and discipleship rather than the means of salvation.

The official site identifies the recurring gathering as Sunday morning worship and offers live and recorded participation, but its accessible service page does not publish a current hour. A banner still announces cancellation of the February 1 in-person service because of weather; that is a dated notice, not evidence that ordinary worship remains canceled. Visitors should contact the church or consult its live calendar before traveling to 112 Mahan Street rather than guessing a time from the old alert. This limitation is worth making explicit: the site has substantial information about the congregation and its ministries, but a first visit requires one direct schedule check until the church republishes its standing hour in accessible text.
