True Gospel Ministries, the “I Am” Church

About this church

True Gospel Ministries, the “I Am” Church, begins Sundays with morning prayer at 8:30 a.m., Bible College at 9:30, worship at 11, and Five-Fold Ministries at 6 p.m. Tuesday Bible study meets at 7 p.m., while a School of Prophets is scheduled every other Wednesday at 7 and Healing and Evangelism meets Fridays at 7. Daily prayer is published for Tuesday at 11 a.m., Wednesday and Friday at noon, and nightly at 6. The Sunday service emphasizes joyful music, Holy Spirit-led worship, prayer, and Bible-based messages intended for daily application. The church's media section includes livestreams, sermons, and a podcast.

The ministry traces its roots to a home prayer meeting Daniel and Therferm Boone began in Lee Hall in 1977. It was organized in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, in 1981 and relocated to Suffolk in 1990. Its beliefs are explicitly Pentecostal, affirming water baptism, holiness, Spirit baptism accompanied by speaking in tongues, divine healing, spiritual gifts, and Five-Fold Ministry. Classes and training are presented as tools for biblical growth, and members are invited to serve through their abilities and gifts. Practical guest guidance is sparse: official pages do not identify service length, children's classes or nursery, parking, accessible entrance, attire, Communion practice, assistive listening, child safety procedures, or which scheduled gatherings are streamed.
