Saint Sophia Greek Orthodox Church

About this church

Saint Sophia Greek Orthodox Church is a Bellingham parish inviting people to encounter the ancient Orthodox Christian faith as a living tradition. Its teaching pages explain Orthodox Sunday worship, the Eucharist, and sacraments including baptism, chrismation, confession, marriage, ordination, and anointing. Choirs, cantors, charitable service, parish council work, and Christian education connect the liturgy with the wider life of the community.

Divine Liturgy begins Sunday at 10:00 a.m. The visitor page tells first-time guests to consult the parish calendar for feast-day celebrations, Bible studies, and deviations rather than treating them as fixed weekly services. Sunday School introduces children to Scripture, prayer, saints, feasts, sacraments, and service through age-appropriate stories, songs, arts, and crafts. Visitors unfamiliar with Orthodox practice should read the church’s guidance on receiving Holy Communion; attendance is open, while sacramental participation follows Orthodox discipline. The official site does not publish a recurring Orthros time on the selected schedule, so 10:00 is the verified public service hour. Holiday and feast schedules can expand substantially, making the current parish calendar especially important around Christmas, Pascha, and patronal celebrations.
