Oak Harbor Lutheran Church

About this church

Oak Harbor Lutheran Church meets at 1253 Northwest Second Avenue and is currently on its summer schedule, with Sunday worship at 9:30 a.m. in person and on Facebook. Holy Communion is celebrated every Sunday at an open table for baptized Christians. Because the congregation's normal-year pages still describe separate 8:00 and 10:30 services, visitors should use the homepage's current seasonal notice rather than assuming the summer time continues year-round.

The ELCA congregation describes itself as child-friendly, military-friendly, and community-minded—particularly relevant in a town shaped by Naval Air Station Whidbey Island. Children's sermons and Bible activity bags help families participate in worship, and during the school year Sunday School runs from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. His Kids Preschool has served Whidbey Island families with inclusive early education for ages three through five since 1993. Music includes vocal choirs, handbells, brass, and seasonal cantatas, while lay assisting ministers, readers, acolytes, and Communion servers share worship leadership. Oak Harbor also highlights military-family outreach and international partnership with Watoto Child Care Ministries in Uganda, connecting its island congregation to both nearby families and wider service.
