First Baptist Church of New Berlin

About this church

First Baptist Church of New Berlin begins Sunday School at 9:15 a.m. and worship at 10:30. Wednesday Bible study runs from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday messages are livestreamed and recorded, and the church also provides a telephone audio option. The morning song service balances hymns from a hymnal with choruses displayed on screen, followed by preaching. Young children receive nursery care, while older children begin with the congregation and leave after the music for a Bible lesson in Junior Church. The church does not require a particular dress code and tells guests that buying formal clothing is unnecessary.

The congregation began in 1975 as an outreach of Garfield Baptist Church in Wauwatosa. Early services used space at St. David's Episcopal Church, Waukesha Technical Institute, and Cleveland Elementary School before First Baptist was formally recognized in state and national Regular Baptist fellowships in 1978. Current ministries include instruction for every age, Vacation Bible School, outreach to older adults, radio teaching, and support for missionaries in Wisconsin, England, church planting, camp work, and Jewish-community outreach in Milwaukee. Visitors should check the events calendar for current lesson topics and special programs, since the core weekly hours are stable but seasonal ministries vary.
