1 Chronicles 1:35 Meaning and Explanation

Before following Israel, the writer records Esau's line, beginning with his sons Eliphaz, Reuel, Jeush, Jaalam, and Korah. From these came the chiefs and clans of Edom, the nation that settled in the hill country south of the Dead Sea. Esau's family is given its full and honored place.

God had promised that Esau too would become a people, and the chronicle takes that promise seriously. Even the brother who sold his birthright is not erased from the record but remembered with care. The Lord's faithfulness reaches beyond the chosen line to the wider family of Abraham and Isaac.
