What Does 1 Kings 7:38 Mean?
Hiram then casts ten bronze basins, called lavers, each about six feet across and holding forty baths of water, and sets one upon each of the ten stands. Each stand now bore its vessel of cleansing.
The basins held the water for rinsing what was brought to the altar, a constant provision for purity in worship. Ten of them, set throughout the court, meant cleansing was never far. So the Lord makes ample provision for His people to be made clean, that nothing offered to Him would come stained, and that those who serve Him might draw near with pure hands.
