What Does 1 Samuel 31:2 Mean?
The pursuit closes on the king's own household. Three of Saul's sons fall in a single line of the text, Jonathan named first among them. Jonathan, who had loved David as his own soul and had pointed him toward the throne, dies at his father's side, faithful to the end of his days.
