Paul continues the list of sins the law opposes and ties them all to whatever contradicts sound teaching.

What Does 1 Timothy 1:10 Mean?

The list continues with sexual sin, the stealing of persons for slavery, lying, and false oaths. Paul then sweeps in anything else that runs against healthy teaching.

By linking the law's prohibitions to 'sound doctrine,' Paul shows that right living and right teaching belong together. The gospel does not loosen morality; it heals it. Whatever wars against love and truth is what the law was given to name.

In the Original Language

hugiaino (ὑγιαίνω), 'sound' -- to be healthy or whole, as of teaching that gives life.
