The women who serve must likewise be dignified, not gossips, temperate, and faithful in all things.

What Does 1 Timothy 3:11 Mean?

Paul names the qualities required of the women connected to this service: dignity, freedom from slander, self-control, and faithfulness in everything.

These mirror the marks asked of the men. The work of serving the church calls for trustworthy people throughout. 'Not slanderers' especially guards the fellowship, for careless words can wound a community as deeply as any other fault.
