Anyone who fails to provide for his own household has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

What Does 1 Timothy 5:8 Mean?

Paul speaks bluntly: a person who will not provide for his own relatives, especially his immediate household, has effectively denied the faith.

Even those without faith commonly care for their families; to neglect this is to fall below that natural decency. Paul makes clear that genuine faith shows itself in concrete care for those nearest to us. Love that skips the home is no love at all.
