Paul charges Timothy before God, who gives life to all, and before Christ, who confessed well before Pilate.

What Does 1 Timothy 6:13 Mean?

Paul issues a solemn charge in the sight of God, who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus. The witnesses of this charge are the highest possible.

He recalls that Christ himself made a good confession before Pontius Pilate, standing firm in the truth at the cost of his life. Christ is Timothy's model. As the Lord confessed faithfully under pressure, so Timothy is called to hold fast.
