What Does 2 Chronicles 2:1 Mean?
These words open the account of Solomon's greatest undertaking. The kingdom is at peace, David's preparations are in place, and the new king now sets his purpose firmly. He names two projects together: a house for the name of the LORD, and a house for his own reign.
Notice the order. The temple comes first, the king's own dwelling second. Before Solomon secures his comfort, he gives his strength to the worship of God.
