What Does 2 Chronicles 4:1 Mean?
The chapter now turns from the temple building to its furnishings, beginning with the altar of burnt offering. Larger than any altar before it, this bronze structure stood in the court where the offerings of the people would be presented day after day before the LORD.
The altar was the first thing a worshipper met, for no one came near to God without sacrifice. Its great size declared that here, at the very threshold of holiness, atonement was made. Every fire kindled on it pointed forward to the one offering that would at last reconcile God and his people.
