The record directs us to the fuller history of Azariah's reign, preserved in an official chronicle that we no longer possess.

Context

This formulaic closing line appears at the end of most reign summaries, directing readers to a now-lost source document; it signals that the biblical writer has selected and summarized the essential spiritual lessons from a much longer record.

What Does 2 Kings 15:6 Mean?

The writer pauses and points us elsewhere. 'For the full story, look there,' he says, gesturing to the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah. We no longer have that book, but ancient readers did. The formula reminds us that the Bible is not an exhaustive biography but a selective, Spirit-guided retelling. What we are given are the spiritual highlights: his righteousness, his fatal compromise with the high places, his catastrophic leprosy, and the provision of his son to rule. That is enough for us to know.

This brief reference teaches us humility about history. We do not have every detail of Azariah's reign, his buildings, his wars, his policies. What we have is what the Spirit deemed essential for the formation of faith. The writer trusts that his reader will understand: we are reading Scripture, not a newspaper archive.

Application

We read what God has preserved for us with trust that it contains what we most need to know, even if it leaves many questions unanswered.
