What Does 2 Kings 9:6 Mean?
Jehu rises and follows into the house, and there the commission is carried out word for word. The oil runs over his head, and the declaration names both the giver and the gift: the LORD God of Israel has anointed him king. The phrase the people of the LORD is striking. Even this divided, often faithless northern kingdom still belongs to God, and He will not abandon it to ruin without a reckoning.
