What Does 2 Peter 2:13 Mean?
Peter says the false teachers "shall receive the reward of unrighteousness" — paid back in kind for their evil. They "count it pleasure to riot in the day time," flaunting indulgence openly without shame. He calls them "spots" and "blemishes" who corrupt the gathering, "sporting themselves with their own deceivings" even "while they feast with you" at the believers' shared meals.
The offense is that these men do their damage from inside the fellowship. They sit at the love-feasts of the church, yet they are stains on it, reveling in deceit while enjoying its hospitality. Their shamelessness — sinning openly in broad daylight — shows how far they have fallen. Peter warns that such corruption can wear the mask of friendship and table-fellowship. The believer is called to discernment within the community, not only outside it. And the assurance stands: their open wrongdoing will meet its just reward. What they sow in deceit they will reap in judgment.
