What Does 2 Samuel 6:4 Mean?
The narrative repeats the departure from Abinadab's house to fix the scene in our minds: the ark is on the move at last. Ahio walks before it, leading the slow procession down the hill, while the people accompany the ark on every side. There is dignity and gladness in the parade.
Yet beneath the celebration the danger of the new cart still rides along. The verse shows a people genuinely surrounding the presence of God, eager to be near it, and that desire is good and right. The fellowship of worship gathers the whole community around the Lord.
