What Does Acts 10:5 Mean?
The angel does not preach the gospel himself. He gives an errand: send about thirty miles down the coast to Joppa, where Peter has been staying since the raising of Tabitha (Acts 9:36-43), and bring him here.
God joins the seeker to the witness. He could have told Cornelius everything in the vision; instead he entrusts the word of his Son to human messengers, and he weaves the meeting himself. When God answers prayer, he very often does it through a person — and when he wants a person reached, he very often sends one of us.
