What Does Acts 11:2 Mean?
Peter goes up to Jerusalem, and there a group Luke calls they of the circumcision — Jewish believers devoted to the law's boundary markers — contend with him. Their complaint is not yet that Gentiles believed, but that Peter behaved as he did among them.
It is striking that even the leading apostle answers to his brethren; in the church of Christ no servant stands above giving account. The contention is real, but watch where it ends: honest questions, met with patient testimony, will close in shared worship (v. 18). When another believer's obedience unsettles us, this chapter models the way forward — ask, listen, and let the works of God speak.
