What Does Acts 14:26 Mean?
The first great missionary journey ends where it began. Antioch in Syria had fasted, prayed, and sent them out, entrusting them to the grace of God (Acts 13:1-3); now the two men sail home with that work 'fulfilled.'
Luke frames the whole journey in grace: the missionaries were handed over to it at the start, and it has carried them through synagogues and stonings, flights and open doors, to the end. The work was completed not because the workers were unbreakable but because the grace was. What is begun in the grace of God can be finished in it — a steadying promise for every commissioned life.
